Here we will review how to access the eChart and review past encounter notes entered. We will cover a couple of different ways of reviewing the past notes and conclude with some Administrative settings regarding the eChart.

Accessing The eChart:
This can be done a number of ways, such as using the E short cut from a scheduled appointment, or on a patient search:
Now that we have accessed the eChart, lets review the past encounter notes a couple of different ways!
Show All Notes:
The encounter notes will be located in the centre of the chart in a descending order. Permitting that all encounter notes have been properly Signed, the new note loaded at the bottom should have the current date, or date of the appointment from which the E was clicked.
Below the encounter notes section will be a button Show All Notes:
This will load a new window with all the encounter notes listed in ascending order, with the oldest one at the top.
Please be aware that from this window you would do a Ctrl + F on your keyboard to load a Search bar to complete a key word search within your notes:
This type of filter may help locate specific entries efficiently.
Scroll Option:
In order to view past encounter notes, you can scroll up within the center using your cursor hovering over the notes section and using either your mouse to move up, or the scroll bar located on the right side of the encounter notes:
Over time notes may appear compact, there is a button Expand All Notes which will open the note fully in the center while scrolling:
Please be aware that within the center section there are also colored bans that indicate when an item has been added to the eChart. For instance in the example above, we can see Documents added in blue. When scrolling, these notifications would need to be scrolled through as well.
Please be aware that you're able to remove these colored bans with an Administrative setting. Please keep in mind that an Administrative setting will affect all providers using the EMR.
eChart Settings:
The eChart settings can be located by going to Administration > eChart > eChart Settings:
Our settings were to have the banners available. Here is what the eChart would look like if we hide those notes:
In addition to removing the colored notes, there are several other eChart settings that the clinic can review as a whole. These settings include ability to hide or display additional patient details, increase font size, customize document types, and choosing to paste notes in chart after faxing.
Browse Notes:
This button will load a new window with the ability to filter by appointment reason:
Appointment reasons will show in the top left corner, you can click on one to filter the items loaded under Content and Encounter Note. For example if we filter to consult:
The listed content has the appointment reason shown, you can click on it to load the item in the center. Similar, the encounter note dates are loaded, and can select to populate the encounter note in the center. Notes can be printed from this window with the printer icon on the left side.
