You can become more familiar with this feature by watching the video: Waitlist.
To create a new wait list, you will want to navigate to the Report section of OSCAR by clicking on the Report hyperlink located at the top of your OSCAR page.

You will then want to scroll down and look for report 16 Waiting List.

Upon opening this page, you will find at the very top of the page a Create List hyperlink. Click on this text to create your waitlist.

You should be brought to a page that resembles below. You will find that in this section, we can rename a waiting list or delete a waiting list. For our purposes, since we are creating a new waiting list, we will use the middle field as illustrated below:
NOTE: When creating a new Waitlist there is an option to check off if you wish to keep the patient on the Waitlist after booking them in for an appointment. This can be beneficial for multi-disciplinary clinics with multiple providers.
When you are then registering patients, you will find that in this particular section of the master demographic record, you can select to put a patient on a waiting list.
NOTE: A patient can only be put onto one waiting list.

Now when you or your colleagues visit the patient's master demographic record, if they were to then click on the Waiting List link on the left:

It will open a page to indicate what waiting list this patient is currently in, what position, and when they were first placed on that waiting list. If a patient elects to remove themselves from the waiting list, you can click on the 'remove' hyperlink here to take the patient out of the waiting list.

If you ever need to see the full roster of the waiting list, you can return back to your Reports section of OSCAR, select 16 - Waiting Lists, select your waiting list as shown below, and use the generate report button to display the full roster of your waiting list.

Below is an example of how that report would look.

From this Report, patients can be booked without navigating to the schedule. The make_appt link can be clicked to load a schedule grid view:
Greyed boxes would indicate a scheduled appointment, if clicked a Double Booking window will load.
Patients can also be removed from the Waitlist from this section:
NOTE: One thing to be wary of is that when you attempt to book a patient that is on a waiting list, you will be prompted with the following message. Booking that patient, may take them off the waiting list.

For multi-discipline practices where the patient sees multiple practitioners, you may be booking an appointment for that patient and still want to keep them on their respective waiting list. You will want to click on Cancel to keep that patient in their wait list.
