Here we will be going over how to utilize the eDoc tab on the green tool bar from the main schedule page.
To get more familiar with this area, here is a link to a video: eDoc Section
The eDoc area is a location that you can store documents, such as hand outs that may need to be printed off to be provided to patients. This area also permits a provider to store private documents that only they can access.
Public Uploads:
First, we will go over how to upload a document, such as a hand out for Public access. We will need to click on eDoc to load that window and then Add Document:
Next, we will assign a Document Type:
Next, there is a box to check off if you wish to make the document Public. By making it Public, any provider that is logged into the EMR can click on eDoc and access this document.
Next, we would give the document a name, and click Choose File to obtain the document for upload:
After the document has been selected, it will show the name of the document beside the Choose File button.
Lastly, the Add button is located on the left side. The new document would now be available under the Public Documents:
The handout can now be printed off, if the patient requests page 2 for directions/instructions of a test.
Private Uploads:
The eDocs allows you to be able to upload private documents that are only visible to the provider that has uploaded them. Another provider would not be able to view these documents if they clicked on eDoc.
This feature could be used to upload any sensitive information that you wish to have accessible, but not visible to others. For instance, a saved copy of your signature, or your contract with the clinic.
The same steps above would be followed, but instead of placing a checkmark beside Public, we would leave that blank:
We can see that the name of the Private Documents will match the name of the provider logged in:
If a different provider is logged in, they would not have access to Lisa Mayhew's Private Documents:
We can see that Doctor Oscardoc has access to the Public documents under eDoc, but cannot access Lisa Mayhew's private items.
