This outlines the steps to efficiently create and submit WorkSafeBC claims for patient encounters, ensuring all necessary information is accurately captured.
Important: Fill out all fields, it's better to take the additional minute to insure this is filled out correctly due to time limitations then to get rejections as it can impact you being paid for this service.
Create New WorkSafeBC Claim Form
From within the patient eChart > Forms > Select BC WCB
Fill Out Patient Information

If the patient has a previous WorkSafe claims, click on the hyperlink to access the previous claim numbers or Employment information.

Ensure to fill out all required fields, including the worker's information.
Enter Dates and Diagnosis
- You can search or enter a keyword and search to locate the correct codes in each box.

WCB code - For first reports, use code '19937'. For progress reports, use code '19940'.
- Service Code - This is the MSP appropriate visit/service code. (Eg. 00100 in office 2-49 yrs)
- ICD9 - The appropriate Dx code (note you can search if you are unsure).
- Body Part/Side/Nature of Injury - These are Worksafe codes, you can Search for the full list or enter a keyword to narrow it down.
- If you have filled out all areas, you can Save and Bill, this will populate all the codes you filled on the form.
Follow-Up Visits

For follow-up visits, select the most recent form created.

Update the date of service and any necessary information, including changing the WCB code to a progress report, 19940.

To view the history of WorkSafe forms, click on the 'Forms' section to access all created forms.
Worksafe Corrections
- If you have received a rejection from a Worksafe claim, the system will revert it back to MSP so you always want to make sure that you select Change type to WCB when re-submitting the corrected claims.
