Messages allows you to send a message to a colleague or a group of colleagues within your OSCAR instance. Your messages are accessible along the top banner on your main screen.
Messages can be patient related or internal process related. Note that there is not the same transparency to messages, if a team member was assigned a patient related task through messages was away, it is not as visible as a Tickler.

You will be notified of new messages sent to you by the colour change and number indicator, the number being the number of new(unopened) messages you have .
Click on the hyperlink under Subject, Test Message in below example, to open the message.
There is access to any Sent or Deleted (Archived) messages on the left side.
After you have reviewed the message you may want to Archive, Forward or Reply, those options are available at the bottom of the message.
To create Folders to keep messages organized, select Manage Folders from the Inbox.
Creating a Message
To create a message you have a few options depending on what area you are in.
From the top banner, select Msg to open and select Compose Message.
Users can also create a message from within a patient Master Record or eChart, this will auto-populate that patient name to the message.
In order to create the message itself, check off the recipient(s) or group, add the subject and create the message.
Users can also link to a patient demographic to a patient by selecting Select Demographic, searching and clicking on the demographic number to attach.
Set Up - Managing Users
Note: You must have Admin role in order to access and update users.
Administration > System Management > Group Messenger Admin
Here will be a list of all active users.
Check off to add or uncheck to remove applicable users. The Root screen is referring to the Message main page, it will display all the names selected.
New Group allows clinics to create groups, this can be especially helpful in larger clinics to send to all Nurses or MOA's as an example. By clicking on the Group in creating a message it will select all users within in that group.
