In this article we will review a couple different ways to upload documents to the OSCAR EMR.
To get more familiar with this process you can watch this video here: Uploading Documents
Documents can be uploaded through the Inbox, or directly to the patient chart.
Uploading To Inbox:
From within the Inbox, you can click on the Upload New Doc button:
This will load a new window where you have a couple options while uploading the Documents:
The Provider will show as Unclaimed, this would be the communal * Inbox where any provider would be able to assist with the Documents.
From the Provider drop down, you have an option to select a different Provider's Inbox, including your own!
In the center, you can either Click and Drag Documents into the boxed area, or you can Click the green link to Select Files for upload:
Once the items have been selected, the Upload button would need to be clicked, and then the Documents will all turn green. The Finish button can be used to close the Upload window:
The Documents would now be available in the Provider's Inbox selected, and they would appear bolded as unread new items:
The uploaded Documents could now be assigned to patients and providers.
Uploading To Chart:
A Document can be uploaded directly to a patient chart either from their Master Record or from the eChart and the Documents module.
Please be aware that Uploading a Document this route will NOT flag the MRP/Provider automatically sending them a copy of the Document to their Inbox for review.
Master Record:
The Master Record can be opened with the M short cut on a scheduled appointment:
Along the left side under Resources, we will select Add Document option:
From here we will fill in the information, similar to the Inbox Upload, but the information is entered before the Document is added to the chart.
First a Document Type would need to be assigned:
Next, a Title for the Document would need to be entered, this Title is what is visible from the patient eChart. It is recommended to be descriptive in the Title:
Next, the Observation Date can be modified if different from the current date. Choose File will need to be clicked to garb a Document from your computer:
After selecting the correct file, you can click Open to load it into OSCAR.
Lastly, you can click Add to finish:
If you need to flag a provider, the Document can be opened from the eChart, once added by clicking on the Document name, and then a provider can be searched on the right hand side:
A success message will be received after linking Document to provider.
eChart:
A patient's eChart can be accessed by clicking on any E short cut link, such as one from the appointment:
A Document can be uploaded directly to patient chart from the eChart and clicking on the + beside the Document module:
The same steps as uploading to Master Record would be followed for the eChart upload.
A type can be assigned, then a Title, a file to be selected from your computer, and finally ADD to finish!
