Here we will go over how to bill for patients with health insurance from other provinces.
The MOH will process claims for Canadian residents from other provinces, except Quebec.
Here is a link going over billing for out of province: RMB - ON
Adding Health Card Information:
In order to bill for out of province, the correct health card information needs to be entered in their Master Record.
The health card number would be entered in the Health Card Number box and the province would need to be indicated in the Health Card Type area:
Please be aware that a health card from a different province cannot be validated in Ontario. The information on the health card would need to be reviewed to ensure that it is valid.
Creating Out Of Province Invoice:
An invoice for OHIP would be created in the same manner as Ontario residents.
The Billing Type would remain as Bill OHIP and the system will save the invoice as Reciprocal Medical Billing (RMB) automatically since the province entered is not ON for Ontario.
The saved invoice would then be included in your next submission to the MOH after Simulating and Generating an OHIP claim file.
