In this training video, I walk you through the steps to ensure that the OHIP billing number is included on invoices for specialist billing. We’ll cover how to add a referral doctor to the consultations list and link them to the patient's master record. It's crucial that this information is entered correctly to automate the billing process. Please make sure to follow these steps carefully, as they are essential for accurate invoicing.
0:00 Hi there. In today's training video, we're going to be going over how to ensure that the referral OHIP billing
number is included on your invoice for specific billing, such as specialist billing.
0:14 Some of these tasks would need to be done by an admin staff. Some of them would be done by the provider
that is creating the invoice.
0:21 But first, we need to make sure that the referral number has been included into your consultations list, and then
that consultant has been added to the master record as a referral doctor.
0:32 After you have received your facts with the referral information, they would need to be added as a consultant.
So we're going to go under consultations from our green bar and we're going to go into edit specialist listing in the
top left.
0:46 From here on here, we're going to go into add specialist. So here we're going to fill in the key components
would be your first name, last name, and the address will be mandatory fields.
0:58 Same with the phone. After you've entered in that information, the OHIP number would be going in under
referral number. And then we're able to add specialist at the bottom to save.
1:10 Once you're specialist specialist has been saved into your database, it would then need to be linked to your
patient's master record.
1:18 From the M, we're going to go into the patient's chart and click the edit option. From here, we're going to scroll
down to referral doctor.
1:28 You'll have search name and search number links and both of those will open up to the same window. In order
for you to search your database, you add and link that referral doctor.
1:39 you're able to search by name, specialty, referral number, or fax number, whichever your preference is. Once
you've located the specialist, we're going to click them in order to add that information into the chart.
1:52 An update window will pop at the bottom to save. We will need to ensure that the referral information is entered
into the patient's master record in order for it to automatically be linked to your invoices.
2:05 When you are creating your invoices, I'm going to click on the B in order to load that up from here. But the
provider that is creating the invoices that does need the referral information entered in, to have it done automatically
we're going to go into the settings bar, the gear shift located in the
2:24 very top right corner. From here, you'll see referring practitioner and we have the option of placing our check
mark and that'll include the referring practitioner if added to patient record.
2:36 You'll see once I've added that check mark that we can see the ABCD that we've just created has automatically
been loaded onto our invoice for us.
2:45 You have a close option for your settings at the bottom right. Or, we can use the X in the top right corner.
2:52 From here, we're able to create our invoice. And at the bottom, we're able to either save and close or save and
next to load our next patient.
3:05 We can see here that we do have present Samantha. As our next patient, I'm going to click on the save and next
and that's going to load for us.
3:12 And we can see that the referral doctor information for the next patient has automatically been added,
permitting that you have the information inside of the master record as well as under your consultations list to link
to the master record and your setting has been enabled.
3:27 The referral doctor information will automatically be added to all of your invoices. That would be concluding
today's video on how to add the referral doctor billing number to the system, to the chart, and then to your invoice
automatically.
