As you prepare for the transition to OSCAR Pro, take the time to review the roles assigned to each of your EMR users. While the role systems of IndiviCare and OSCAR Pro are quite similar, there are a few key differences to be aware of to ensure a smooth transition.
- Doctor Role – In Oscar Pro, the ‘doctor’ role provides standard access for users. It grants access to the schedule, patient charts, and reports – essentially, all the areas that most MOAs and healthcare practitioners need to provide patient care.
- Admin Role – The ‘admin’ role can be added on top of the ‘doctor’ access. Users with admin privileges will have full access to the administration panel, including user, schedule, and billing management. It is important to note that users with admin access are required to add new referring practitioners to the system.
- Primary Roles – In OSCAR Pro, a user’s primary role defines which encounter notes are visible. A user will only see encounter notes written by a user who shares the same primary role.
As a result of these role distinctions, we recommend that you add the ‘doctor’ role to all your users. This role will automatically be set as the primary role upon your migration to OSCAR Pro. You will need to manually add the primary role for any user who does not have the ‘doctor’ role at the time of migration.
Custom Roles
If you are using custom roles in your system and would like to continue doing so once on OSCAR Pro, discuss your options with your onboarding specialist. They will guide you and provide you with the available options to help smooth your transition.
By understanding these roles distinctions beforehand, you can effectively manage user access and ensure that you team has the appropriate permissions to perform their tasks efficiently within OSCAR Pro.
ACTION REQUIRED – Adjust your users’ roles ahead of the migration.
- Add the ‘doctor’ role to all users requiring standard access.
- Add the ‘admin’ to users needing admin access (this includes managing referral doctors).
- Connect with your onboarding specialist regarding custom roles, if you have any.
