Please see step by step instructions below on to reset or update another users password in OSCAR. This can be done by any user with 'administration' access.
The first set of instructions (1) outlines how to modify/set the password of a user if the username and/or provider number of the account is known. The second set of instructions (2) outlines how to locate the provider number associated with a user, in case the username is not readily known.
1) Changing Another User Password in OSCAR / Setting Temporary Password For A New User
- Navigate to Administration (at the top)
- Select User Management > Search/Edit/Delete Security Records
- To locate the associated account by provider number, 'Provider No' radio button is the default, enter desired provided number, and click Search
- To locate the associated account by username, select 'User Name' radio button, enter desired username and click Search.

- Click on the username to edit the security record
- Remove current password and enter a desired password into the "Password" and "Confirm" fields. The same password must be entered into both fields.
NOTE: password must be at least 8 characters, with at least one uppercase letter and one number. - Remove current pin and enter a desired pin into the "PIN" and "Confirm" fields The same PIN must be entered into both fields.
NOTE: PIN must be between 4 to 6 digits - this option is not present on all systems - Click Update Record to save change
- "Force Password Reset" to True will force the user to change their password upon first successful login.
The message "Security Record Updated Successfully" will display, indicating that the password and PIN (if applicable) were successfully updated.
2) Locating a User's Provider Number
- Navigate to Administration > User Management > Search/Edit Delete Provider Records
- Enter the first few letters of provider last name into the available field and click Search
- The Provider Number associated with the specific record displays under the ID column.
This number can be used to locate a user in the first set of instructions above - (1) Changing Another User Password in OSCAR.
