How to Create a Prescription Favourite in Classic View
When using the Rx Module, users can save a medication, alongside specific instructions, that can be selected in future from a predefined list.
This helps minimize the amount of time it takes to prescribe a combination of commonly used medications and their associated details such as quantity, instructions, duration etc.
Please see instructions below on how to create an Rx Favourite in the Classic view on OSCAR.
Note: Rx Favourites are specific to each provider. Adding new items or modifying existing items does not affect the list of favourite items that other providers see.
Create a Favourite in Classic Rx:
- Navigate to the Rx module of any patient (including a test patient)
- Write out a desired prescription (a new prescription, using ReRx, etc.). Include the following as needed:
-
- desired instructions
- quantity, method, duration, etc.
- Long term flag
- Comment
- Use the "More" section if necessary to add additional details
-
- When ready to save the details of the Rx, click the F link near the Name of prescription.
- Enter a desired name for the Favourite. This is the name that will display internally within the EMR to designate this specific Favourite item (and does not appear in the Prescription in any way)
- Click OK to save
- The saved prescription will now display under the Favourites section on the left hand side of the Rx module:
Clicking on a desired Favourite item will start the prescription process for this medication as it was saved (with the previously saved name, instructions, quantity, long term flag, etc.). It can be adjusted as needed during the prescription process.
To edit existing favourites, click the Edit button at the top of the Favourite section in the Rx module to modify or remove existing favourites as needed:
