The article below provides information on how to obtain a Ring Central account, as well as forward and/or port your existing number to Ring Central.
If you already have a Ring Central account, you may proceed to this article to integrate it with your EMR:
To facilitate sending and receiving faxes electronically from the EMR using Ring Central, you will need a working Ring Central account that includes faxing capability.
Ring Central by default issues a new fax number for each account. If the clinic already has an existing number, this number will need to be call forwarded and ported to Ring Central.
If your organization does not have an existing fax number, please review the following section on how to sign up for a Ring Central account.
Once a Ring Central account is obtained, you may proceed to Integrating Existing Ring Central Account into EMR to complete the eFax integration.
If your organization has an existing fax number, you will need to obtain a Ring Central account (see steps above) as well as forward or port your number to Ring Central.

For local numbers, Ring Central offers 35,000 calls per month (includes sending/receiving faxes, calls made through their phone service, etc.).
For toll free numbers, Ring Central provides up to 1000 incoming calls per month with the lowest tier. Clients may need to upgrade to a higher tier to increase this limit. In both cases, all outgoing fax calls are unlimited.
Once a Ring Central is account is set up, Ring Central issues a new fax number and you are technically ready to integrate it into your EMR.
If your organization does not have an existing fax number to forward or transfer over, proceed to the following instructions to complete the eFax Integration:
If your organization does have an existing fax number, please review the information below:
Forwarding existing Fax Number to Ring Central
The Ring Central integration in your EMR imports faxes that are received by Ring Central. If you have an existing fax number that is not assumed by Ring Central yet, you will need to forward any calls from your existing number to Ring Central as a temporary measure to ensure that your faxes are picked up by the EMR.
The permanent solution is to move or "port" your existing number to Ring Central.
To set up call forwarding, you will need to contact your existing fax provider and ask them to forward any calls from your existing number to the Ring Central one.
SRFax
If you are currently using SRFax, the request to forward your number must be submitted to their support team by phone or email. They will present a form to sign for the request to be completed:
- The name and signer of the form must match the name that SRFax has under their My Account > Account Details section
- The address on the form must match the address that SRFax has under their My Account > Account Details section
Local Fax Line
Contact your fax line provider to set up the associated forwarding.
Porting over existing Fax Number to Ring Central
Porting (or moving) your existing fax number to Ring Central ensures that Ring Central assumes your fax number. This allows you to cancel other fax lines and/or services as Ring Central can act as your main fax provider.
The porting process is fully handled by Ring Central. For more information on how to port your number to Ring Central, see documentation below:
